SUVs in Bentley and Lamborghini Future

We all know how luxury vehicle leaders like to play coy and keep their cards to their chest when it comes to new releases and new models. That being said, the word is out that both Bentley and Lamborghini are scheduled to release their first versions of the SUV. Motor Trend, NitroBahn and Automobile Magazine have all recently described some of the details that we can expect in Bentley and Lamborghini’s future.

Regarding plans from Bentley, Karla Sanchez of Motor Trend writes:

We know that Bentley chairman and CEO Wolfgang Durheimer has spilled the beans on a forthcoming luxury Bentley SUV, revealing details on how a hybrid variant of the SUV would be of the plug-in variety, and how it will likely house a W-12 power plant. But we won’t believe it until we actually see it, and that could be as soon as the Geneva Motor Show next month.

Although the British automaker hasn’t confirmed that its reported SUV will debut at the Geneva show, Automotive News is reporting the ultra-lux 4×4 Bentley SUV has a strong possibility of showing its face at the upcoming show. As we’ve reported before, the Bentley SUV will not use an all-new platform, meaning it could instead use the same underpinnings as the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne and Volkswagen Touareg.

And while we initially thought there would be a good chance the SUV would utilize the new 6.3-liter W-12 that’s used for the 2012 Audi A8L, Durheimer said it wouldn’t, but confirmed a 12-cylinder would indeed be used as the main power source. Bentley’s boss also told the Financial Times at the Detroit show that a potential sales target for the SUV could be about 2500 units a year. With details slowly starting to emerge, it might not be too far-fetched the Bentley SUV show its face soon, especially since another uber-upscale SUV under the Volkswagen umbrella is rumored for an upcoming debut. Lamborghini will apparently have an SUV ready to unveil — most likely in concept form — at the Beijing auto show this April.

As for the creation of Lamborghini’s first SUV, NitroBahn author describes:

A senior source at the parent company Audi has confirmed that Lamborghini is about to reveal its new concept of a luxurious SUV model. The concept is to set for public airing in April which will be held at the Beijing Motor Show. The production of this SUV version is going to share the same platform with the Gallardo as well as the recently announced Aventador in the late 2016.

“I can’t comment in detail but the speculation in the press is largely correct”, an Audi manager has answered the media when he was questioned about the various reports of outlining plans by Lamborghini to gauge response of public to LM002 successor with the SUV model concept. As a rival for the Maskerti Kubang, and the soon to be announced Bentley SUV model, Lamborghini is planning to sell in small numbers.  The company has announced that the number will be likely lesser than 1,500 units per year with an estimated cost of approximately 120,000 pounds.  The prime market for the performance oriented SUV will be United States, China and the Middle East.

When it comes to the engine, the 500mm long four-seater SUV is suggested to have the retuned version of Gallardo’s 5.2-litre V10 petrol engine. A hybrid version of the engine is also expected. The source also confirmed that the new model will combine the standard V10 engine with an electric motor as well as a lithium ion battery pack in order to deliver the highest energy and power capacities to the vehicle.

The Lamborghini SUV will be known by its internal code name LB376. Presently at Audi, the so called MLB structure is undergoing massive development and it will be subjected to a dramatic weight reduction program. Due to this the vehicle will weigh less than 2000 kg, the Lamborghini said.

Georg Kacher from Automobile Magazine describes the cryptic vagaries the new Bentley CEO Wolfgang Durheimer used regarding the work on a Bentley SUV:

…it’s an open secret that Bentley is working on an SUV. It will be based on the next Cayenne/Q7 and is bound to attract at least 5000 buyers per year. In the States alone, I can see 20,000 potential customers — all of them current Bentley owners. And all of them have an SUV in the garage.

Rolls Royce Gets a Makeover

When people think of a Rolls-Royce, generally the image is that of the classic car, with traditional style. Why mess with perfection? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, right? Motor Authority recently leaked some exciting news about the latest 2013 Rolls-Royce Phantom Line. They write:

“It’s very rare that Rolls-Royce visually updates one of its models, especially when that particular model is the clear sales leader in its segment.

Nevertheless, a facelift is scheduled for the top-selling Rolls-Royce Phantom, bringing the car, which comes in sedan, coupe and convertible flavors, some fresh new styling for the 2013 model year.

The updated car, in this case a 2013 Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe variant, has been spotted undergoing cold weather tests by our spy photographers.

The prototype clearly features new headlights as well as revised LED daytime running lights and updated bumpers fore and aft. There’s also the possibility that the iconic round lights may be replaced in this facelift as they’re covered up in these shots.

Not much else is known about the car though expect some updates to the interior and powertrain to go along with the new styling.

The Phantom’s 6.75-liter V-12, which is standard across the range and in its current form develops 453 horsepower, should be uprated to deliver more power though with less emissions. Finally, expect the navigation and infotainment systems to be updated with some new tech as well.”

The car model that seemed like it would never change or update itself has now changed its tune to include facade modifications as well as interior upgrades. And all of this includes a lower emission quotient. Who wouldn’t like the sound of that? For more information and pictures, check out the article from Motor Authority. Or better yet, if you’re anywhere in the Tampa, Miami, Orlando, or Fort Lauderdale areas, visit us at Ultimate Motors and take one out for a test drive. You’ll love the way you feel in this revamped 2013 Rolls-Royce Coupe.

Bentley Goes Green

In this downtrodden economy, many are looking to cut costs and be greener on the environment. Are you looking to save and also go green, while still sporting the elite cache of a high end luxury vehicle? Then the newest Bentley Continental line is for you!

This morning, Automobile Magazine released an article about the 2012 Bentley Continental GT and 2012 Bentley Continental GTC V8. They wrote:

“Despite wealthy buyers’ lust for horsepower, the upper echelons of automakers are not exempt from the more stringent fuel economy and emissions standards coming in the next decade. Economy is the name of the game with Bentley’s newest addition to the Continental line: the GT and GTC V8.

Using a tweaked version of the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 first seen under the hood of the 2012 Audi S8, S7, and S6, the coupe and convertible from Crewe have been tuned to 500 hp. Also new to Bentley is an eight-speed automatic.

The smaller engine helps to reduce fuel consumption by around 40 percent when compared to the 6.0-liter W-12. U.S. economy figures have yet to be finalized, but on the European cycle, the V8-powered car comes in around 27 mpg. Impressive, given its 4.8-second time from 0 to 60 mph and 188-mph top speed.

Visual tweaks to differentiate the V8 are minor: figure-eight-shaped exhaust tips, a black grille, red enamel backings for the badges, and revised front and rear valences separate the eights from the twelves.”

Test Driving the 2012 Bentley Continental GT V8

The journalists at Automobile Magazine also wrote up the first test drive of the “Conti GT V8″ and were pleasantly surprised with the results. The new Bentley Continental GT V-8 is 55 pounds lighter than the W-12. The weight was removed where it matters most: on top of the front wheels. At 27.0 mpg (on the European test cycle), it is 40 percent more economical. The top speed is 188 mph. Former world rally champion Juha Kankkunen of Finland test drove the new Bentley Continental GT V-8 at Britain’s Silverstone raceway and said, “It is a very well balanced car.” Full acceleration and hard deceleration are exceptional.

So if you’re looking for an impressive, guilt-free, pride-inducing ultra-luxury vehicle in Tampa, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or Orlando, check out the 2012 Bentley Continental GT or Bentley Continental GTC V8 at Ultimate Motors and you’ll be beyond satisfied.

The Lamborghini Aventador Outraces Itself

If you thought the car you currently drive is fast, think again. There’s a new speedster in town, and its name is Lamborghini Aventador. When this brand new Lambo was first released, the Italian car manufacturer announced a top recorded speed of 217mph. Earlier this week, Torque News revealed a new ground breaking number on the radar gun: 230mph. That’ll blow your hair back!

The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4 is powered by over 690 horsepower 510lb-ft of torque from its roaring 6.5L V12 engine, making it one of the fastest cars in the world to date, and one of the fastest in the history of the automobile. Aventador, a name from the Spanish Language, is directly translated as “fan.” The Lambo Aventador is not only making waves but gaining a lot of fans, and will make a fan out of you.

This discovery that the Aventador clocks a whopping 13 miles an hour faster than their perceived fastest was made by the renowned European auto testers at Sport Auto. When they took the 2012 Lamborghini Aventador for a test drive, the super car raced to a top speed of 230mph, rather than the original announcement of a paltry 217 mph. This change in speed offers more than bragging rights. 230mph puts the Lambo Aventador in the upper echelon of the fastest cars in the world, namely the McLaren F1 (231mph), the Koenigsegg CCR (241mph), the Bugatti Veyron (253.81mph), the SSC Ultimate Aero TT (256.18mph) and the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport (267.856mph). All of these hypercars are significantly more expensive (at least twice the price of a Lamborghini Aventador), and only two of them are even available on the market today. Take a look at the Sport Auto video featuring their ground shattering test drive of the Lamborghini Aventador and see the power and speed for yourself.

There are only a handful of cars that have achieved the 225+mph crowning glory of the hypercar, and only one of them will cost you less than half a million dollars: The Lamborghini Aventador LP 700-4. Come on in and give it a test drive. We’re sure it’ll make a fan out of you.
